No, this marker is not actually on Madeline Island. (This is one there too, and I’m kicking myself for forgetting to take a picture of it while we were on the island, as it would take quite the effort – and desire – to get back there again.) This marker is on highway 13 between Washburn and Bayfield, and you’ll likely see it on your way to the island.
I guess this sign was placed at this something-less-than-a-wayside for those who don’t actually take the ferry to the island.
