I don’t know how many times I’ve driven past this marker and have never noticed it was there. The Thern Farm either, for that matter.
Both are at the interchange of Wisconsin state highways 45 and 54. If you travel north on 45 and use the exit ramp to get onto 54, the marker and farm are visible just ahead and to the left when you stop at the sign at the end of the ramp.
The marker above is either adjacent to or on the land of the Thern Farm. (I took the shot of the barn from the tiny parking area by the marker.)
The Thern Farm is normally available for tours and photo ops. Since we were there on July 4, however, it was not open.
That’s a stone puller in front of the barn. Hitch your horses to it, and you can pull up to 6 tons of rock in one go.
